- Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever, San Joaquin Fever)
- SYMPTOMS of the benign, Primary form may include coughing, fever, sore
- throat, chest pains or no symptoms at all. Symptoms of the spreading and
- chronic, Progressive form may include a low-grade fever, loss of appetite,
- weight and strength, a bluish color, difficulty breathing and bloody sputum.
- CAUSES are from the fungus Coccidioides immitis through the inhaling of a
- fungus spore-laden dust. Affects mostly men, ages 25 to 55.
- TREATMENT. The Progressive type can be fatal. Treatment with amphotericin.
- .Primary type usually needs no treatment.
